20+ billion rubles will be allocated for the development of the Sevastopol’s electric power system until 2027

Over 20 billion rubles will be allocated for the development of Sevastopol’s energy system from 2024 to 2026. Governor of Sevastopol Mikhail Razvozhayev shared this information in his Telegram channel following a meeting with Energy Minister Nikolai Shulginov.

“Together with the Ministry of Energy, we have approved the energy development scheme and plan for Sevastopol. We made adjustments based on the data provided by the general plan developers. The plan covers activities until 2027, with an estimated implementation cost of around 21.5 billion rubles”, he wrote.

The Governor mentioned that Sevastopol plans to upgrade current networks and substations, and also construct new ones within two years. This initiative aims to meet the needs of the current population and accommodate the expected increase in residents. He highlighted that electricity consumption in Sevastopol has risen in the last three years, leading to challenges for the existing power grid.

“Network fragmentation hinders the establishment of a unified technical and operational policy. Therefore, during the meeting, we discussed the importance of consolidating the network system”, Razvozhayev added.

Sevastopol residents often face power outages. For this reason, Razvozhayev had ordered to create a territorial grid organization (TGO) based on the Tavrida State Unitary Enterprise. Electricity for the enterprise, which belongs to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, will be provided by the city. Sevastopolenergo is a major energy provider for Sevastopol, supplying electricity to 520,000 residents.
