Governor of Sevastopol discussed the current situation and future prospects of the city

As the calendar year comes to a close, it is the perfect moment to review achievements and set goals for the future. Governor of Sevastopol Mikhail Razvozhayev recently discussed these topics in an interview with Kommersant.

The city’s leader highlighted a key point about Sevastopol’s current situation: life in the city has not come to a standstill, despite facing various challenges associated with its location.

“We are seeing positive trends in Sevastopol. At present, there has been an increase of 136 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) compared to last year, bringing the total to 23,500. As of October 1, 2023, there are 27,200 self-employed individuals registered in the city, which is 1.7 times higher than the number on the same date in 2022. Moreover, the turnover of organizations has increased by nearly 10%”, stated Mikhail Razvozhayev.

For 9 months of the year, industrial production increased by 10.8% compared to the same period in 2022. The most significant growth was seen in the manufacturing industry, with an increase of 18.8%. Specifically, the production of rubber and plastic products doubled, repair and installation of machinery and equipment increased by one and a half times, furniture production grew by 1.4 times, and the production of computers, electronic, and optical products rose by 1.1 times.

Sevastopol winemakers have performed well: from January to September, the region produced 51.4 thousand decaliters of wine and products compared to the same period the previous year.

Despite everything, the volume of investment is growing: in the first half of 2023, 16.8 billion rubles were invested in the city’s economy, which is 0.6 billion more than in the same period of the previous year.

From January to September, 16 construction projects under the state program Socio-Economic Development of the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol were put into operation, such as gasification of settlements, four kindergartens, two fitness and health centers, a polyclinic, and communal facilities.

Having adjusted to new challenges, the economy is expected to grow by 3.8% next year. Forecasts indicate a 7.4% increase in production and a 4.1 billion ruble rise in retail turnover.

“What are the main investment projects currently underway in Sevastopol, and what is the total investment amount?” asked journalist Dmitry Mikheenko.

“We are currently working on 96 investment projects with a planned volume of extra-budgetary investments of 240.5 billion rubles. They include the Cultural Cluster on Cape Khrustalny project with investments of about 70 billion rubles, the Development of Balaklava project (40.7 billion rubles), the Creation of a Tourist Cluster on the North Side of Sevastopol project (20 billion rubles), and the park of living history called Fedyukhin Heights (0.57 billion rubles). Additionally, there is a priority project called “Development of Ecotourism and Outdoor Recreation Route — Great Sevastopol Path” with an investment of 0.27 billion rubles”, stated Mikhail Razvozhayev.

The priority projects Terroir Sevastopol with an investment volume of 4.14 billion rubles and IT-technopark project (3.34 billion rubles) were mentioned as well.

“About 80 billion rubles will be spent on the project to develop different areas in Sevastopol. Construction of the industrial park Heraklid with an investment of 6 billion rubles is also underway. On top of that, 1.5 billion rubles will be invested in establishing the fishing cluster”, stated the head of Sevastopol.
