Sevastopol ranked 26th in the investment activity rating of Russian regions by the end of 2022. The study was carried out by the Civil Society Foundation (CSF) using Rosstat data.
Experts calculated a general indicator from the two criteria of investment rating, the amount invested and the rate of investment growth. Sevastopol was ranked 66th in terms of investment amount and 2nd in the country for the growth rate of investments. With a combined score of 34 points, the region secured the 26th position in the rating.
A month ago, the Russian Federation’s Minister of Finance, Anton Siluanov, discussed the significant growth in own revenues and investments in Sevastopol.
Sevastopol’s revenues have tripled from 2014 to 2022, which is higher than the national average of 2.1 times. Investments in fixed capital during the same period increased by 11 times, significantly surpassing the regional average of one and a half times.
The city’s revenue growth is linked to its expanding population and the significant investments in government projects. The city’s Department of Economic Development emphasizes that investment opportunities in Sevastopol are growing every year. They mention that the government, along with investors and banks, has successfully navigated sanctions obstacles. As a result, the city has seen an influx of major investors in recent years.
The Realization of Integrated Development in the City of Sevastopol construction project has the highest investment amount, totaling about 80 billion rubles. Other significant projects currently underway in Sevastopol include the cultural cluster on Cape Khrustalny with investments of 70 billion rubles, the Development of Balaklava project with 40.7 billion rubles, the tourist cluster on the North Side with 20 billion rubles, the industrial park Heraklid with 6 billion rubles, and Terroir Sevastopol with 3.94 billion rubles.
According to the Department of Economic Development of the city, Sevastopol currently has 573 industrial enterprises across 13 different industry sectors. The non-food processing industry in Sevastopol employs over 5,600 people.
