The international Expo Forum Russia at VDNKh hosted a round table on the development of winemaking and wine tourism in Russia as part of the Day of Sevastopol. Sevastopol Governor Mikhail Razvozhayev, representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, the executive director of the Association of Winegrowers and Winemakers of Russia, and industry representatives attended the event.
The round table discussed the development of viticulture and wine tourism in wine regions of Russia as a whole and the challenges that faces the industry.
The Governor of Sevastopol discussed the growth of winemaking in the region and the key state support measures available for local winemakers. In particular, the region receives about 500 million rubles annually to cover the costs of planting new vineyards. This allowed vineyards to be restored in both large wineries, like Inkerman and Zolotaya Balka, and in small wineries.
«The Inkerman winery will undergo a modernization process with an investment of 5 billion rubles, as per the agreement signed last year. Furthermore, a separate tourist complex centered around winemaking will be established on the premises. Our city winery project is now complete, thanks to 2 billion in investments. We are excited to announce that the winery will open in Sevastopol at the end of January or the beginning of February. This will include a restaurant and a shared facility for aspiring winemakers with vineyards ranging from 5 to 10 hectares. More than 40 businesses have already joined the project, and our small farms are also investing a significant amount of money», said Mikhail Razvozhayev.
The round table also covered topics such as the progress of legislation to boost wine tourism and support the wine sector, and the current status of regional wineries. Successful wine entrepreneurs shared their experiences and the crucial role of government support in their accomplishments.
